Commissioned for a wedding ceremony, these two vessels feature a combination of three glazes. The white alludes to the foamy rush of the waves meeting the layered blue glazes around the knob. The interior mimics the mixing blues and grays of deeper ocean water.
Familiar places…
February 22, 2010It feels good to return to a familiar form, familiar idea. This is one I haven’t visited for sometime. This is a wide open offering bowl for a ceremony. I like the three lip pull mimicking opening petals, welcoming pollination in a way. The idea of inviting others to participate not just witness an event is so powerful and has been a powerful experience for me in my life. I look forward to bringing more of these to life.
Coming together
December 22, 2009New Vessels of Intention
December 13, 2009I am excited to have developed this idea to the point of putting it out into the world. These vessels thrown in porcelain have the potential to be many things. Each one is unique, no two alike, and can embody the intention given to it by its keeper.
Perhaps a votive alight to celebrate the coming of the Solstice, an important passage in life, or the coming together of two people in a commitment ceremony.
Perhaps its intention is as a tithing or giving bowl, gathering of sacred objects or in the offerings of others during a sacred ceremony.
The possible intentions are many, and may be known only to you, the recipient.
